Minister of Education, Republic of the Marshall Islands
Hon. Nidel Lorak, Minister of Education of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), offers his expertise within PREL’s Board of Directors from his dual careers in education and government. With 17 years’ experience as senator in the Nitijela (Parliament), Hon. Lorak has served as delegate for the 2nd, 3nd, and 4th Constitutional Conventions of the RMI. He has been a board member of the RMI language commission, chairman for the Nitijela Standing Committee on Resources & Development, and vice chairman for the Nitijela Standing Committee on Health Education, and Social Affairs. Previously, he has worked for 22 years in education, serving as instructor at the Community College of Micronesia, curriculum writer at the Curriculum Learning and Training Center, RMI Ministry Department of Education, instructor at the Marshall Islands Teacher Education Center (MARTEC), and elementary classroom teacher.
Hon. Lorak is currently a master of education candidate in education administration at the United States International University, San Diego. He holds a bachelor of education degree in elementary education from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
