Comprehensive Center Network

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) authorized the establishment of comprehensive technical assistance centers to provide technical assistance to states to benefit school districts and schools, especially those in need of improvement. The Comprehensive Center Network includes 5 content centers and 15 regional centers. Click on your region in the map below to go to get more information.

Content Centers
The five content centers cover a spectrum of school improvement and technical assistance areas. They are responsible for providing in-depth knowledge, expertise, and analyses to regional centers and the states. Content centers disseminate knowledge on scientifically-based research on effective practice and research -based products in their area of specialty and support technical assistance to states.

The five content centers are as follows:

Assessment and Accountability Content Center. The Assessment and Accountability Content Center is housed at WestEd in San Francisco, California.

National High School Center. The National High School Center is housed at the American Institutes for Research in Washington, DC.

Innovation and Improvement Content Center. The Innovation and Improvement Content Center is housed at the Academic Development Institute in Lincoln, Illinois.

Instruction Content Center. The Instruction Content Center is housed at the RMC Research Corporation in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Teacher Quality Content Center. The Teacher Quality Content Center is housed at Learning Point Associates in Naperville, Illinois.

 

Regional Centers
The 15 regional centers provide assistance to states within their respective regions to help them implement NCLB and other related federal school improvement programs and help increase state capacity to assist districts and schools to meet their student achievement goals.

The Alaska Comprehensive Center serves the state of Alaska.

Appalachia Region Comprehensive Center
Appalachian Educational Laboratory
The Appalachia Region Comprehensive Center serves the states of Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

California Comprehensive Center
WestEd
The California Comprehensive Center serves the state of California.

Florida and Islands Region Comprehensive Center
Educational Testing Service
The Florida and Islands Region Comprehensive Center serves the state of Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

Great Lakes East Region Comprehensive Center

The Great Lakes East Regional Comprehensive Center serves the states of Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.

Great Lakes West Region Comprehensive Center

The Great Lakes West Region Comprehensive Center serves the states of Illinois and Wisconsin.

Mid-Atlantic Region Comprehensive Center

The Mid-Atlantic Region Comprehensive Center serves the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia.

The Mid-Continent Region Comprehensive Center serves the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

New England Region Comprehensive Center

The New England Region Comprehensive Center serves the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

New York Comprehensive Center

The New York Comprehensive Center serves the state of New York.

North Central Region Comprehensive Center

The North Central Region Comprehensive Center serves the states of Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Northwest Region Comprehensive Center
Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory
The Northwest Region Comprehensive Center serves the states of Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.

Pacific Region Comprehensive Center
Pacific Resources for Education and Learning
The Pacific Region Comprehensive Center serves American Samoa, the CNMI, the FSM (Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap), Guam, Palau, and the RMI.

Southeast Region Comprehensive Center

The Southeast Region Comprehensive Center serves the states of Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina.

Texas Comprehensive Center

The Texas Comprehensive Center serves the state of Texas.

West/Southwest Region Comprehensive Center

The West/Southwest Region Comprehensive Center serves the states of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.
